Barimbong is one of the quarters that make up Oshie village. This is the most enclave quarterbeing twenty (20) kilometers away from Oshie park (market) and twenty two (2) kilometers fromthe Njikwa Administrative seat.It occupies the largest land surface of Oshie village having a boundary with Berinagong quarter, extending to the boundary with Beba in Menchum Valley Sub-division and with Mundum inBafut Sub-divisionsPopulationsBarimbong has a population of about four hundred and fifty (450) people, a growing primaryschool (Government school Barimbong) and a growing congregation of the Presbyterian Churchin Cameroon. This population increases with the posting of new teachers and their families to thequarter. The school is also attended by children from Nyekwo (Ntabenza) the nearestneighboring quarter of Beba village with Menchum Valley Sub-divisions and Nzah, the nearestneighboring quarter of Mundum in Bafut Sub Division.Politics:Politically the Barimbong people are very dynamic and participate actively in political activitiesthat go to build and develop our nation in general and Oshie in particular.Economic activities:Economically Barimbong is situated in a rich fertile zone which supports the growth of all typesof crops, both food crops and cash crops. As regards food crops, there is the production of cocoyams, colcocia, beans of various types, yams of various types, corn, groundnuts, cassava, plantains, onion, garlics, ginger and all types of fruits. As regards cash crops there is the production of coffee, cocoa, palm wine and palm oil. Noteshould be taken of the fact that this is the only quarter in Oshie where palms are grown. High
land rice is also produced by the Beba people on the windward side of the hills of Barimbong. There is also a lot of cattle rearing on the hills and valleys of this quarter.Social activities:Socially, the Barimbong people are very welcoming and interact well with all groups of people, the Fulani Cattle rearers one an example. The teachers, church workers, medical staff and thepopulation neighbouring villages of Baba, Mundum, and Konda can also attest to this fact.
Culture:The Barimbong people have a rich and attractive culture. There are many good carvers in thisquarter. They also perform many traditional dances, some which they have learnt fromneighbouring villages in addition to the popular “electric dance” (Okani) of the Oshie people. With the richness of this quarter in such resources and products it becomes a bit bizarre when thepopulation of the quarter cannot have the opportunity to make a good living from such resources. This is because of a lot of limitations, hence it becomes necessary to call the attention of theadministrative authorities of the council area and the administration of the sub-division for thesituation to be improved upon, especially as regards the provision of farm to market road.REV. BARIMBONE QUARTER OSHE VILLAGE
PART TWO
Barimbong is one of the quarters that make up Oshie village. This is the most enclaved Quarter, being twenty (20) kilometers from Oshie Park (market) and twenty two (22) kilometers from theNjikwa war Administrative seat. Barimbong occupies the largest land surface of Oshie villagehaving a boundary with Berinagong quarter, extending to the boundary with Beba in Menchumvalley Sub-division and with Mundum in Bafut Sub-division.Economically Barimbong is situated in a rich fertile zone which supports the growth of all typesof crops, both food crops and cash crops.PROJECTS:With the richness of this quarter in such resources and products, it becomes a bit bizarre whenthe population of the quarter cannot have the opportunity to make a good living from suchresources. This is because they do not have access to make a good life for themselves in theirenvironment given their own limitations, hence it becomes necessary to call the attention of theadministrative authorities of the council area, and the administration of the sub-division for thesituation to be improved upon.To improve the condition of living of these citizens, one can suggest the provision ofThe following facilities:1. farm to market road2. Bridges3. Pipe born water
1. Farm to market roadsAs earlier stated, Barimbong is the most enclaved quarter, twenty kilometers away from thenearest marker which is Oshie market. All that is taken to the market is by head load becausethere is no motorable road to this quarter. By this means of transportation, much of what isproduced does not get to the market but gets rotten in homes.
A road to enable these hard working citizens to get their food and cash crops to the marketbecomes an unquestionable necessity.2. Bridges:There is a river that runs through the quarter separating it into two sections. During the dryseason it is easy to use bridges made with sticks over this river, but during the rains when theriver overflows its banks if carries the sticks on which people cross. It is most dangerous whenchildren have to cross to school and back each day. The quarter needs two bridges on this river, one on the Menchum/Oshie end of the quarter and the other on the Beba end of the quarter.Even without a road to Barimbong, if these bridges are provided, it will be a good safety measurefor the population.3. Pipe born water:As earlier stated, there is a river that runs through the quarter separating it into two sections; ThisRiver is not quite safe for drinking because at times cows are watered up stream. The population also baths in this river hence it cannot be regarded as a safe means of drinkingwater. The population survives by drinking water from a few springs around the quarter. There istherefore need for pipe born water in both sections of the quarter.

BARIMBONG QUARTER -OSHIE VILLAGE
PART THREE.
Barimbong is one of the quarters that make up Oshie village. This is the most enclaved Quarter, being twenty (20) kilometers from Oshie Park (market) and twenty two (22) kilometers from theNjikwa war Administrative seat. Barimbong occupies the largest land surface of Oshie villagehaving a boundary with Berinagong quarter, extending to the boundary with Beba in Menchumvalley Sub-division and with Mundum in Bafut Sub-division.Barimbong Welfare AssociationThe Barimbong Welfare Association (BANAS) is an organization that brings together the sonsand daughters of Barimbong quarter.Through this Association Barimbong sons and daughters have been able to carry out a number ofprojects in the quarter. We have been able to put the floor of the church, paint the church andprovided good pews for the congregation. The construction of a Pastors house is ongoing.During one of the annual conversions of the organisation that took place in Barimbong a woodenbridge was constructed by the members which enabled motor cycles to cross the river on theirway to Beba from the Mundum end of the quarter. When we were told in 2017 by the mayor of Njikwa that government had given money for theconstruction of the road from Berenangong to Barimbong, we contributed money and fell all thebig trees that were shading the road so that when the road was constructed it will always be dry, unfortunately the mayor failed us. We started the construction of a community hall which is nowat a stand still because of the political problems. As things become better the Association has a number of activities to carry out that will go toimprove the welfare of the Barimbong population.
